We're genuinely passionate about all things coffee, the gear, the craft, the business side of it, and that's the actual reason this site exists. Vigilant Coffee is built for the person who's already past "which pod machine should I buy": the home barista dialing in a dual boiler, the hobbyist about to buy their first roaster, and the person seriously weighing whether to build a coffee trailer.

Coffee makes you alert. We think the decisions behind it deserve the same attention. That means real specs instead of marketing copy, a clear read on who a product is actually for, and an honest "this isn't it" when something doesn't fit. Your coffee keeps you vigilant. We stay vigilant about everything coffee.

How we evaluate equipment

Every product on this site is scored using published manufacturer specifications, documented warranty terms, and publicly available reviews and forum discussion from working baristas and roasters. We don't run a private lab, and we say so, our "Vigilant Score" is an editorial synthesis, not an independent lab test, and it's clearly labeled everywhere it appears.

What we won't do

We won't claim a product is "the best in the world" without qualification, promise a training program will get you a job, or promise a coffee cart will hit a specific income. Where a claim can't be backed by a published source or a clearly labeled opinion, we don't make it.
